Harry William

Hey! I'm Harry. I love to improve and enhance products and experiences, to better user connection and satisfaction.

about me

I graduated from Brunel University in 2017 with a First Class Honours Degree in Industrial Design. My core applications are Solidworks, Keyshot, Adobe Suite, and Figma. Currently, I am a Lead Product Designer for Stateside Skates, and Brand Manager for Slamm Scooters.

Based in Newbury, 45 minutes from London, I am an Industrial Designer who likes to focus on the stories behind the product. I believe an emphasis on the story results in a stronger user experience and engagement. This leads to more powerful brand identities, narratives, and products.

WORK

Actegy Ltd

I led the industrial design and usability across a diverse product range, working closely with the connected device development team to deliver seamless physical and digital solutions. I developed concepts through to production, conducting thorough research, exploring cutting-edge ideas, and ensuring every detail adhered to the highest quality standards. Additionally, I developed prototypes for testing, created compelling visuals for presentations, and collaborated across teams to validate and refine designs.

Focusing on manufacturability, I defined design intent and specified materials, colours, finishes, and UI/UX interactions. I partnered with our South Korean manufacturing team to ensure the delivery of high-quality products while meeting stringent medical regulatory requirements. I also worked cross-functionally with engineering, marketing, sales, and other key stakeholders to successfully launch innovative products to market.

Stateside Skates

I worked as Lead Product Designer (3D) and Brand Manager for Slamm Scooters at Stateside Skates. I was responsible for overseeing in-house 3D design and collaborating with factories in the Far East to create user-focused, successful products.

My role involved working closely with other brand managers from Stateside’s talented team across all seven brands they owned. I also partnered with the marketing and sales teams on product launches, and helped define product ranges and RRPs. I was fortunate to manage several stages of the product design process, from conducting user research and developing rapid prototypes, to performing quality control checks on finished products to ensure they met our high standards.

Innovate Product Design

I worked at Innovate Product Design after graduating from Brunel University of London with a degree in Industrial Design. I thrived in this fast-paced consultancy environment, where I had the opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of projects for diverse clients.

At Innovate Product Design, my responsibilities included defining project briefs with clients and creating initial sketches for approval. I then developed multiple concepts to address the brief, or focused on refining a single idea to produce presentation boards for securing additional funding or partnering with businesses for further development.

In some cases, clients chose to develop prototypes with us, where I used the in-house workshop or rapid prototyping techniques to create proof-of-concept prototypes.
